Las ciclinas y el control del ciclo celular

Las Ciclinas fueron descubiertas en 1983 por el Profesor Inglés TIM HUNT, trabajando con el Erizo de mar Arbacia punctulata. Como uno de los componentes claves del control del Ciclo Celular, se agrupan en dos clases principales: Ciclinas G,, y Ciclinas Mitóticas.
Los animales superiores también poseen múltiples Ciclinas. Ocho tipos diferentes de ellas se han identificado, y clasificado como:A, B, C, D, E, F, Gy H.
Igual que en las levaduras, en las células de vertebrados, con Ciclos Celulares regulares, la concentración de Ciclinas fluctúa en diferentes etapas del Ciclo Celular; por contraste la concentración de las CDK, se mantienen aproximadamente constantes.
